From the PREFACE.
In presenting to my magical confrères and the public in general this contribution to the already extensive literature on Conjuring and Card Tricks, I would point out that I can make no excuse for the raison d’être of this book beyond the fact that I have been led to believe that a strictly ORIGINAL TREATISE, embracing the very latest sleights with playing-cards, combined with description of many new and hitherto unknown non-sleight-of-hand card tricks, would meet with approbation from amateurs and professionals alike, taking into consideration the ever-increasing popularity of the Magician's Art.
